These will be highly technical in nature and therefore quite possibly involve some very detailed negotiations between developer (or their agents) and the local authority.

While this might serve to reduce planning delays, in order for this not to create development delays it will be important for developers to ensure that they are able to submit affordable housing schemes that meet national and local policy, that meet an identified local need, are affordable to a range of households in need, and that allows for a workable cascade mechanism. Most importantly for the developer, the scheme must be economically viable.
